Why browse 5-letter words?
Five-letter words are especially useful for Wordle-style puzzles, medium crossword answers and balanced word-game racks. A fixed five-letter length often leaves enough candidates to explore without becoming unmanageable.
Browse this list when you know only the answer length, then narrow by the first or final letter. For a Wordle-style puzzle, confirmed green positions, misplaced yellow letters and excluded grey letters are better handled by Wordle Solver, which can rank likely and familiar candidates first.
How to use this list
Treat the list as a source of possibilities, not a substitute for the puzzle’s clues. Compare each candidate with known positions and excluded letters, and use Word Finder when the pattern is more complex than a single starting or ending character.
Familiar examples include ABOUT, ABOVE and ABUSE. The score badges use standard English-language Scrabble tile values before board bonuses; FUZZY is the highest-scoring entry in this curated list at 29 points. These scores are a comparison aid, not a claim that every candidate is accepted by a particular game.
Need a different kind of search? Try Word Unscrambler for mixed letters, Word Finder for combined filters, or Wordle Solver for a more specialised puzzle.
From candidate to answer
A matching length is only the first check. Read the clue or sentence again, confirm the part of speech, and compare every known letter before choosing a word. For competitive play, verify the candidate in the dictionary selected by that game. For writing, check the definition, tone and regional spelling in a trusted reference.
Quick tip
Does this match a daily Wordle answer list?
No. They are curated five-letter words. Individual daily games use their own answer and accepted-guess lists, which may not match this page.
