What is an anagram solver?

An anagram is a word made by rearranging the exact letters of another word — listen and silent, or cat and act. An anagram solver takes a set of letters and finds every word hidden inside them: the full-length anagrams that use all your letters, plus all the shorter words you can spell along the way. It is the tool of choice for anagram puzzles, cryptic-crossword anagram clues, the Daily Anagram, and any game where you need to see what a scramble can become.

How to use it

Type your letters and results appear instantly, grouped from longest to shortest. To see only true, full-length anagrams — words that use every single letter — open Filters and set Length to the number of letters you entered. Add a Must include letter to focus on anagrams containing a particular character, or a Contains sequence to find those with a specific pair of letters together.

Anagrams vs. sub-words

There is a subtle difference worth knowing. A perfect anagram uses all the letters (like abcfaadtfactbada? no — but aetchcheat and teach). Many scrambles, though, have no full-length anagram at all, and the best you can do is a shorter word. Our solver shows you both: the exact anagrams when they exist, and the longest partial words when they do not, so you are never left empty-handed.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference from the word unscrambler?
They share the same engine. The anagram view simply frames the results around rearranging your exact letters, and makes it easy to show full-length anagrams only.

Can it find anagrams that use every letter?
Yes — set the Length filter to your letter count and you will see only exact, full-length anagrams.

Is there a limit?
You can enter up to 20 letters, including blanks.
