What is a word unscrambler?
A word unscrambler takes a jumble of letters and instantly finds every real word you can spell from them. You type the tiles you have — in any order — and the tool rearranges them into a complete, sorted list of valid words, from the longest possible play right down to handy two-letter fillers. It is the fastest way to get unstuck in Scrabble, Words With Friends, the daily Jumble, Text Twist, anagram puzzles and dozens of other letter games.
How our word unscrambler works
Enter up to 20 letters and press Unscramble. We compare your letters against a dictionary of more than 370,000 words and return everything that can be built from them — never using a letter more often than you actually have it. Results are grouped by length with the total count at the top, and each word carries its Scrabble score so the highest-value plays jump out immediately. Everything runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no waiting on a server.
Tips to find more and better words
- Use a blank tile. Type
?(or*) for a wildcard and we will try every letter in that position — perfect for Scrabble and Words With Friends blanks. - Narrow with filters. Open Filters to show only words that start with certain letters, end with a suffix like -ing, contain a sequence such as qu, must include a specific letter, or match an exact length. This is how you place a word around tiles already on the board.
- Hunt the high scorers first. Longer words and those using J, Q, X or Z earn the most points — scan the score badges before you play.
- Switch to common words when you only want everyday vocabulary and would rather skip the obscure entries.
Great for every word game
The same rack of letters unlocks many games.
