What is Word Connect?
Word Connect combines a letter wheel with compact crossword-shaped boards. Each level provides a small set of letters that can be connected in different orders. Target words reveal their positions in the crossword, while other accepted words may count as bonuses. The campaign contains 100 validated levels that gradually introduce larger letter sets and more involved layouts.
How to play
Press or touch a wheel letter, continue across the letters needed for your word, then release to submit. Each wheel letter can be used according to the level’s input rules, and Shuffle changes the wheel arrangement without changing the available letters. When a target word is found, every legitimate cell belonging to that placement is revealed. Intersections share one cell, exactly as they should in a crossword.
A hint reveals progress within the current board. Bonus words reward vocabulary beyond the required targets but are not necessary for level completion. Complete every target to unlock the next campaign level. The game never advances automatically; Next Level remains a deliberate action.
Building an effective wheel strategy
Start with short familiar words to expose intersections. Revealed crossing letters make longer targets easier to recognise. Group common beginnings and endings mentally, and remember that Shuffle is useful when the existing wheel order makes you repeat the same patterns. When only one target remains, use its visible length and crossing letters before spending a hint.
Campaign progress is stored locally. Replaying a completed level does not unlock another level, increase unique completions or duplicate its ID. It may improve documented level records such as best score or fastest completion.
Campaign progress and accessible feedback
A level label and progress bar show your position in the 100-level campaign. Crossword cells exist only at coordinates occupied by target placements; intersections produce one shared cell and empty coordinates inside the bounding rectangle remain invisible. Revealed letters use readable contrast as well as state styling, and completion acknowledgement respects reduced-motion preferences.
Hint, Replay, Share and Next Level remain explicit controls. The campaign never auto-advances, and returning players continue from locally validated progress. A replay can improve documented score or time records but cannot duplicate a completed-level ID or create an extra unlock. Bonus totals and target progress remain separate so optional vocabulary does not obscure the requirement for completing the crossword.
